I can't say enough good things about this gym, from caring and supporting staff to the amazing and friendly members, a wide variety of activities for everyone and very clean! Lots of special amenities and its affordable! Win win win! more »

We have been members for many years, much of the time paying and not using. We like the club so much that we don't want to give up our membership. Parking is great, and for the most part we find the club to rarely be crowded. The facilities are nice and the staff is friendly. One thing that disappointed me recently was that my wife and I were very interested in enrolling in the Golf fitness class offered during the winter. We inquired at the front desk about this class in the late fall. At first the staffer wasn't aware of this program, but seemed to find it saying it doesn't start until winter, so when we came back after the New Year we were informed that the class only had one opening left and that they couldn't accommodate another participant. We asked to be contacted if an opening occurred, but never heard from anybody. In retrospect I think the first inquiry we made should have resulted in the staffer taking our names for a wait list until the golf fitness class opened up. Someone should have contacted us to see if we were still interested. more »

The arena club is, in my opinion the best fitness sports club in Maryland. They have personal trainers that will understand any problems you have and will fix them. Your training sessions are private and no information is released from any training program you are participate in. They have treadmills, bikes, elliptical, weights, pool, basketball court inside and outside, volleyball field, water slides, and a sauna. I love the service that the staff provides. Keep up the good work AC! more »

Taking shower before entering swimming pools need to be enforced. There are even people coming to pools area in street clothing, undressing there and in something, what looks like long underwear, going straight to the pool! more »

I love the Arena Club! Staff is friendly, welcoming and very helpful. There is no "shaming" if you don't attend for awhile...just a sweet smile from Dawn and a warm greeting. Love the exercise machines but, love the staff and overall environment equally as much. more »

I have been a member of the Arena Club for the last three years and it has been very enjoyable until a month ago. April 30 was my first bad experience with a lifeguard and today I had my second bad experience at the Arena Club; again it was with a lifeguard. I don’t remember the lifeguard names.

I was dressing my 5 ½ year old grandson behind a table and chair being very careful to make sure he was covered, I dried him down to the waist then put his shirt on. I then removed his swimsuit and put his underwear on (his shirt covered him) when a lifeguard came up to me and said “you should not dress him here, you need to take him into the dressing room”. At that moment a woman in front of me said “Oh let’s just put up a towel”. By that time my grandson was already dressed and we were ready to go. My husband had just come back from looking for his hat and glasses when a second person came up (man with dark hair and glasses) and started to explain to me why I should not dress my grandson behind a table. My husband told him to go away, not in a nice way. Why did it take two people to tell me I was doing wrong? Why was it a lifeguard? Why does a lifeguard get out of his chair putting members in danger to inform me I am doing wrong outside the swimming pool.

To make a long story short the lifeguard at the Arena Club do not say good day, good morning they only find fault. I get mixed messages from the lifeguards; I don’t know when I should correct my child because they are doing it. There is a sign up stating “No Lifeguard on duty” and you are responsible for your child but then the lifeguards tell you, you can’t put chairs along one side of the pool because it blocks the lifeguards view. The lifeguards also watch the kids in the baby pool and if they are misbehaving the yell at kids. When I see this I do not interfere; I can’t see yelling at a kid twice.

I would like someone to help me understand the mentality of a lifeguard. I like keeping a low profile and don’t like to be approached. I try very hard to do the right things so when I am told I am doing something wrong I take it to heart because I don’t like doing things wrong.

Would you like to hear about April 30?

We joined the club when we moved to the area because they offered Les Mills classes (fanastic programs). what we ended up finding was a supportive, family friendly, community orientated club. The instructors are awesome, the programs are varied and they really are so supportive of the community and their members. Thank you! more »

we are new to area, other gym/fitness clubs were more pricy and just didn't "feel right". We love the Arena Club, and our son loves the babysitting. Hot yoga is great, and there is always a machine you can go on without waiting. We are looking forward to using the outdoor pool this summer. more »

Being new to the area and having come from another large facility in Maryland I am happy to say the Arena Club is so much more than a place to go work out! The staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable and the local owners obviously care about the success of the members who are their neighbors, friends and family. This is a community of people improving their health and encouraging others to do the same. The kids club is a fun active environment with warm caring attendants. The water park with 5 pools also has an adjacent playground and covered areas for picnicking. The indoor Arena is home to dozens of lacrosse, soccer, baseball and flag football teams. There really is something for everyone in your family. So happy to be joining this fantastic team and making Bel Air my families home. more »

The Arena Club is a place of encouragement, motivation, support, and so much more. The staff is always friendly and helpful, but perhaps even more importantly, they are very knowledgeable and willing to help you meet whatever goals you have set for yourself. I just recently moved to Virginia from Maryland and I cannot find anything that comes remotely close to what the Arena Club and their staff offer. This place is a treasure, these people are awesome, and I miss everyone dearly. more »

Nice gym. Rarely crowded. Vast variety of equipment. People there pretty chill. Only major problem is the swamp of a locker room they have. Slipped and messed up my groin once already. Shit happens, but it'd be nice to have a dry floor every now and then. more »

Family membership since June 2009 and love the place! Well maintained and updated equipment with HD flat screens. Proficient and friendly trainers are readily available for assistance on the floor and in exercise rooms. A great variety of aerobic, strength training, and aquatic classes are available for all capability levels. Adept teachers in the before and after care classes. Child care is available during workouts and class times.
Over these six years three of my grandchildren have been, and do attend the well-rounded Summer Day Camp and pool program. Clean and beautifully renovated locker rooms. Sanitizers and wipes are everywhere.
Wellness and nutrition programs are motivating. Also many fun holiday and events activities with healthy refreshments and snacks. The Arena Club frequently provides lavish poolside parties with live music, foods, drinks, face paints, and bounties for its memberships.
Most importantly, they monitor and adjust to meet the needs of the club membership.

Member since April 2014, after putting up with high prices and overcrowding at another club. Staff is friendly and professional. My toddler son loves the nursery. I absolutely love the yoga classes with Colleen (Fridays and Sundays) - wish they had her in more. They have a good number of aerobic machines - I've never seen people waiting in line for them. A very large, open area for weights - lots of free weights, barbells and plates, and various weight machines. Great pools: one for adults, one for laps, a large, fenced-in baby pool, and a large family pool with a water slide. So far I've never struggled to find a lounge chair or felt overly crowded when going to the pool. I've never had to walk far from my parking spot, even at busy times. All of this at very reasonable rates, cheaper than the comparable club in the area. more »
