I decided to pop in one foggy night after my partner mentioned a hankering for chicken chips from a takeaway shop. But after doing some googling, I wanted to check of Barnacle Bill! And I managed to convince my partner to get fish and chips instead. What a great decision that was! The way the seafood is crumbed is lovely and light. Ordered a few menu options at Barnacle Bill and can say that it’s definitely one of the best fish & chips in Western Sydney area, not just Penrith. They cook on order but definitely worth waiting for a few minutes. Menu is simple, food cooked fresh from quality ingredients, no fancy pretentious dish. The lunch special was exceptional! The portion was plenty for one. Calamari, prawn, fish and chips were still crispy even after 10-15mins drive to the Tench Reserve. The hake size was huge. Coleslaw was creamy and delicious as well. If I could give more than 5 stars I would. You won’t regret having a great take away from this shop in Penrith.
Good quality and tasty food. I tried chickenettes and chips 6-8 pieces. Good portion size and chips taste good. Chicken ettes are similar to chicken snitzel. Wait time was not long. Came with 2 sauces. Overall, 5 stars.
Travel from the Shire for a little taste of home - Adelaide. We were all so happy to hear Barnacle Bill was opening in Penrith. This has been a staple in our household for decades, and it was the best day ever that we heard it was opening in Sydney. My husband has a rule….. only order seafood if u can see the ocean. Barnacle Bill is the exception to rule. We have been making the drive out to Penrith since it opened almost 2years ago and have never been disappointed. Always delicious, fresh food and friendly service.
