This was our first visit to Black Bear Diner. Our experience with the taste of the food was good. The service although not horrible, left a lot to be desired. We ordered requesting lightly toasted toast and eggs over easy. When the orders came, the toast was dark and the eggs were scrambled. Looked for the waitress to get her attention and saw that she had sat down at a table across the dining area to visit with either other patrons or employees. The food was excellent even though the wrong potatoes were served and no butter for the buscuit, and then corrected. Tried to get waitress attention, didn’t think she returned until refilling coffee. When she brought the correct potatoes, my husband who is soft spoken asked for ketchup and butter, she had to have him repeat cuz she didn’t hear him, and when he did, she walked off shaking her head like he had done something wrong. We arrived at the restaurant and we told it would be a 15 minute wait. I asked why when I saw quite a few empty tables. Garret did not reply but instead whispered something to Katie. After about 2 minutes he seated a family of 3 that had been put on the waiting list after my party of 2. I asked for a booth but instead was seated at a table for 4 next to the noisy kitchen by Katie. She offered no drinks, but I noticed she did this with other customers and the family of 3 got the booth. There were other booths. We visit... read more
