My husband rented a car from O'Hara in Chicago. From the beginning it was a miserable experience. The car was filthy and smelled. The agent suggested we drive with the windows open. And I told him it smells like cigarette smoke and we don't even smoke...PLEASE!!!! Then, he bought us a Kia Sorrento which was okay. The line was short but thats about it. We booked out car online as that's where we found the best price. While being shown our options for cars, we were give one option. We didn't like it so we got one other option. Which was a lot better. The car was fine and had no problems during the rental. However. During the return, they didn't know who we were. I rented a compact,advertised as 5 seater, the car barely fit 3. It clean on the outside but inside looked like someones lunch blew up. We pointed out the condition of the car and got push back on a different car, told 'we wouldn't be charged for the dirt' I ALWAYS rent from Enterprise and THIS was a first. I love Enterprise but will never rent from O'hare again. John, a manager there called to ask how my service was, he apologized and offered a 15% discount on my next rental. The rental car that was offered had issues with car charging points & was showing a flat tyre indication at the end of the rental.The customer service person who attended, seemed to acknowledge the problem & discounted some amount off the final invoice.What i could not understand is that how do they rent cars with such nagging issues. Love Enterprise when I travel thru Midway but will never use them again at O'Hare I waited over 20 minutes for shuttle while every few minutes the competitors shuttle kept coming. Upon arriving to rental office didn't have car I was supposed to get got a Volkswagen beetle with no ability to plug in phone passenger door broke no one could give me directions to get on 1-90 told to use gps I wrote them a letter and never got a response there were many other issues but im sure you get the point
Worst customer service from Manager, John. He attempted to charge my card for the total amount of $430 to rent the vehicle. It showed " declined " So I went in my bank App to see what the problem was because I know I had the funds, sure enough my bank app showed a pending charge of $430 from Enterprise. So I showed John the charge in my account that he made. He looked at it and he said "I didn't charge your card. It shows declined. Redeemed a "free" day. Was sold add-ons I didn't ask for including apparently a full tank of gas for one day's use, when I thought I was just pre-paying any used gallons. Nope upon return I was told I needed to return it "empty". That would be a trick...do I get towed in? My free day cost $95 dollars. I'm a former elite member.
I declined full coverage, but it showed up on my bill that was emailed to me (not given to me at the store). When I contacted support they said that I signed for it but could offer a 35% discount.I rent cars often for work. Enterprise is by far the worst. I'm in sales and know when I'm being sold to. Enterprise hires kids out of college for their sales program, so it's not about providing customer service. I had reserved a premium SUV. When we arrived at the Chicago rental site the man who helped us seemed puzzled as he looked for a vehicle. He said he would be right back. From the time we arrived to having him return with a vehicle it was approximately 30 minutes. We were very frustrated so just took the vehicle even though it was not what we had requested.
