Genesis Story Genesis Counseling Center is a dynamic community of behavioral health professionals inviting others to explore and develop the insight and changes needed to live an inspired and healthy life. Our counselors have collectively served the Hampton Roads community for many years. We work together to provide professional Christian counseling ministry to our community and the world. We provide services “to bind up the broken-hearted and set the captives free” (Isaiah 61:1).

I called for my daughter and got help immediately. The people that answer the phone are courteous and compassionate with a true sense of urgency. My daughter’s mental health is s big deal to me and they made me feel Ike it was a big deal to them as well. They got her immediate help and worked with us to find a counselor who is truly the right fit for my daughter. I will forever be grateful for Genesis.
Female, mother, ~40yrs I scheduled an appointment with the first available. That was my mistake. I do not recommend Jonathan Stephens specifically for blended family issues.(perhaps he’s better at other things) but I left feeling very misunderstood. Twisted what I said to be as though I had some sort of ill-intent. My husband and I went in ok(small issues, nothing relationship-ending) and we left arguing. I have to say that we have always had positive experiences in general with Genesis Counseling. We started seeing counselors there beginning in January 2019 through 2021 (off and on with different therapists), and we’ve come back again this year. Our daughter is starting counseling with my favorite therapist & she is already being diagnosed and feels like she’s making progress while getting solid, Christian treatment.
I had a positive experience at the Hampton location I wanted to possibly try therapy and got an online therapist that works at the Chesapeake location- I had requested a female counselor since male mental health professionals in the past have kind of treated me strange- (in the past I had a psychiatrist tell me if I came to their appointments well dressed I wasn’t struggling as much as I was saying ect). Genesis was so good to work with. The coordination was awesome, and our counciling was insightful to us.
