I have had large floaters in my left eye since 2002 and it really became a major issue when my right eye also developed large floaters in 2016. With both eyes being affected with large floaters my ability to see clearly became an issue. I'm in my mid forties with a high degree of nearsightedness. My optometrist who I had been seeing since 2002 recommended I see Dr. Ross to get a thorough evaluation done and also because her office was providing Laser Floater Treatment.
My first visit with Dr. Ross was in May 2020 right in midst of COVID 19 pandemic. Her office staff was very courteous and were able to accommodate me very quickly. In my very first consultation with Dr. Ross and her staff, it was evident that she was an exceptional doctor and that her staff was well trained. She took the time to methodically go over my history, conduct all the necessary tests, and provided my diagnosis. She clearly explained what was going on and what my options were. I had to choose between Vitrectomy and Laser Floater Treatment. She explained the pros and cons of each treatment thoroughly. Even though insurance does not cover Laser Floater Treatment, I wanted to try it first and see if it worked for me.
Right after my very first session in just one eye (right), I was able to notice a significant difference in my vision. That very evening, after my pupils were back to normal from being dilated, my vision had improved as the floater had shrunk. I was very excited and continued with treatments for the right eye and also started on the left eye. I have had 4 sessions on my right eye and 3 on my left eye. With every single session, I have noticed significant improvements. With both my eyes improving, I have regained depth perception in my vision. I had not even realized that I had lost it. I will be continuing with a few more treatments as I not only had large floaters, but also many smaller floaters. To me this treatment was life changing and completely worth it.
There are signifiant risks associated with vitrectomy and I wanted to make sure I had tried every option available to me before I needed to undergo surgery. I'm so glad I decided to try LFT as my vision has drastically improved and I can see very well now. Any further improvements at this point is just icing on the cake. My sincere thanks to Dr. Ross and her excellent staff!
Thank you so much for your kind words, Adarsh. We really appreciate you taking the time out to share your experience with us.
