Family owned and operated for four generations, Haynes Furniture has evolved through entrepreneurial innovation and a commitment to the people of Virginia. In 1930, Ellis Strelitz purchased a small furniture store in Norfolk from L.D. Haynes. Joined by his son and his younger brother, Mr. Strelitz expanded into the Richmond market in the Sydnor & Hundley building on Grace Street and set out to build Virginia’s biggest furniture store and to revolutionize the furniture industry.

From the time I walked in the door I felt welcomed! Thomas Williams was the best sales consultant I ever had. He took time to answer all of my questions and never pressured me to purchase anything! He went above and beyond showing me all the features of the luxury sofas and giving me great advice! I ended up with some great deals and management was very nice as well! I spent a good amount but what I saved was more than I can imagine! I’ll definitely be back to purchase more furniture! Thomas deserves a raise!

Due to a family emergency, we had a need to purchase specific furniture for a family member so we went to Haynes on two occasions in two days. Our first experience was with Joyce, who was above and beyond expectations of being helpful. I am almost 80 years old and find that when I go to purchase things sales people are often short with me. I went in on Saturday and saw Mr. Goodman in the mattress area. He was very helpful and patient concern in my needs. If you're in the area and you are looking for a mattress. Go talk to Mr. Goodman in the Haynes building on Jefferson in Newport News. I am so satisfied.
Isaiah was amazing. We needed a certain type of furniture in a short period of time! He communicated with me before I even got to the store and directed me to exactly what I needed. He also handled the arrangements for delivery in a fantastic time frame !!
