Finding the Heart of the Village B & B was such a nice surprise! -Was attending an event at Shelburne Farms and somehow forgot to book a place to stay until nearly the day before...the Inn was close (maybe a mile away) and that made my decision...thrilled with the stay, warm and friendly hosts who really know how to make Eggs Benedict! You will be happy here! more »

The rooms are clean and lovely, Rose and Antoly did everything to make our stay comfortable and hassle free. We have stayed at the Inn several times and have found it to be consistantly clean and delightful. more »

Let me tell you about a magical place called the Heart of the Village Inn where you enter as a friend and you leave as family. The moment we entered the main house we were greeted with smiles and offered refreshments. Anatoly and Rose made us feel right at home! We chatted for a long time before we were shown to our beautiful room. Our accommodations were charming! We picked the Bostwick room in the carriage house and we were not disappointed! Rose and Anatoly have taken great care with the appointments in both the main house and the carriage house. The custom chandelier in the dining room made of silver coffee/tea pots is a thing of beauty! Everywhere we looked there was a beautiful piece of furniture or painting that fascinated us. My husband and I have stayed at many hotels, and to be honest, a bed and breakfast is a much better experience. Speaking of breakfast, let me tell you about the breakfast! We started with a lovely greeting from Rose and progressed to one of the best breakfasts we have ever had! We started with a Vermont coffee and half a pear with cinnamon, maple drizzle and cranberries. We progressed to a loaded omelette and blueberry pancakes that were absolutely delicious! The maple syrup was local as well as all the ingredients that made up our breakfast. My husband and will celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary this year in October and we will be making arrangements to stay at the Heart of the Village Inn again. I assure you, if you decide to book a stay with Rose and Anatoly, you will not be disappointed! more »

This was my second visit to Heart of the Village and, once again, it was wonderful! We stayed in the Bostwick room and it was so cozy and quiet. Dark wood gave the room a cabin feel but the high windows made waking up on a chilly Vermont morning delightful.

We thought there wouldn't be much to do in Vermont in February but we were so wrong! The owners of the inn are so knowledgeable about the area. They directed us to several nearby breweries and we were thrilled to see an exhibit of rare rock and roll pictures at the Shelburne museum.

Probably our favorite part of the trip was talking with Rose and Toly. They had interesting stories to tell about the history of the inn and how they became its owners. They are both worldly and gracious hosts and Toly's breakfasts are to die for!! You MUST try the Vermont cigars aka a crazy breakfast meat concoction.

We will definitely be back!

We've been there twice now and have loved our stay both times. The inn is located in Shelburne which is just south of Burlington making it perfectly located to go to that college town or finding a great place to hike and enjoy nature.
The inn itself is lovely, the breakfasts were deliciously sinful, the rooms clean and charming. The dining room has an amazing chandelier made of tea pots. Rose and Anatoly are a lovely couple who really want their guests to feel comfortable. They are a wealth of knowledge about the area and their advice is spot on.
Perhaps the biggest compliment we can give is that we will be back!

Heart of the Village Inn was the perfect place for a romantic weekend getaway. Special touches like a complimentary box of truffles in our room when we checked in and fresh flowers on our breakfast table evidenced the host's attention to detail and elegant taste. The room was lovely, very clean, and well-appointed. Breakfasts were a real treat, and the host meticulous and accommodating. We would highly recommend this property. more »

This was my first trip to Vermont, and my husband and I are so glad we chose Heart of the Village for this weekend away. The house is absolutely beautiful, and is a great combination of historic charm and modern comfort. The room was clean, bed was comfy, and the shower had great water pressure (definitely not a given in these situations!). The owners are kind and friendly, and gave us wonderful recommendations for things to do while in town. You can just tell they love what they do and have pride in their establishment. The breakfasts....oh my goodness, DELISH! There are fun things to do right in Shelburne, but Burlington is a quick drive away. We can't wait to visit again in the future!! more »

The house is absolutely beautiful, and is a great combination of historic charm and modern comfort. The room was clean, bed was comfy, and the shower had great water pressure (definitely not a given in these situations!). One tip: we stayed in the Shelburne Room and since it's on the first floor you do hear people coming and going. It wasn't enough to really bother me but it could be an issue for a very light sleeper, in which case you may want to choose a room on the 2nd floor. The owners are kind and friendly, and gave us wonderful recommendations for things to do while in town. You can just tell they love what they do and have pride in their establishment. We visited the Inn in February and it was such a treat! The location is perfect for exploring Shelburne and the surrounding areas, the room was comfortable, clean, and spacious, and the breakfast is the best I've ever had at a B&B! The Innkeepers, Rose and Anatoly, are absolutely wonderful. They are incredibly accommodating, fun to chat with, and knowledgeable about the area no matter what you are looking to do while visiting. They absolutely value their guests. We felt well taken care of, and relaxed, before heading back home! Thank you for the wonderful visit! more »

We very much enjoyed both Anatoli and Rose -- they were most gracious and informative hosts. They pointed toward two restaurants within walking distance, we chose Barkeaters and the food was fabulous. It a lovely town with lots to see and do. Breakfast was yummy and we really relaxed throughout our stay. more »

I am the kind of traveler who welcomes a wide range of experiences. On any given weekend, you can find me luxuriating in a Las Vegas suite or bunking down in an Airbnb tree house. But, there is one type of experience that I save for truly special occasions... the Bed & Breakfast (B&B) experience. It takes a certain mindset to truly appreciate the magic of a B&B. A stay isn't just a nice room or a gourmet breakfast; it's an interactive experience with innkeepers who craft a unique and personal visit to a place that is often their home.
Rose and Anatoly's re-imaging of Heart of the Village is spot on. It is truly a "modern" B&B and it has earned a place on my "All Time Favorite Places." The inn's location is central to everything great in Shelburne (e.g. the Leaping Frog restaurant, the Flying Pig bookstore, the Shelburne Museum, Bijou chocolates, the winery and even the local supermarket). There is a little road noise from the local traffic, but it disappears after sunset. Every aspect of my trip to Shelburne was perfect and I have to scoff at the reviewer who complained about his check-in mishap, because communication is a 2-way street. I communicated time tables ahead of time, I had absolutely ZERO problems with my off-schedule arrival (caused by a flight delay).
The Webb Suite where I stayed was an oasis with it's super comfortable bed, mountain of pillows and amazing skylights where I watched the snow falling overhead as I drifted off to sleep. The new whirlpool tub was also the perfect place to unwind after a day of roaming around the town.
Each morning, I was greeted with a gourmet breakfast lovingly made with fresh ingredients true to the Vermont proclivity for local farm-to-table ingredients. The crustless quiche is delicious, but the eggs benedict are mind-blowing! I highly recommend trying the Vermont Cigars for a culinary twist on morning meats.
However, the ingredient that really made my breakfasts so enjoyable was the opportunity to visit with the innkeepers. Rose and Anatoly are a fascinating couple and it's a treat if you have the opportunity to visit with them. They give Heart of the Village Inn, it's true flavor with their warm, professionalism and their joie de vivre.
I look forward to visiting again.
