Pick up was so far away (had to walk from international to domestic) in the heat of Cairns. I was drenched in sweat by the time I reached the domestic terminal counter after a 35hr flight itinerary. This despite being a Gold member. I was hoping to get some online notification that would enable me to pick up the car like I have been used to. Unlike Hertz in the United States, zero service, no one at drop off. Mid day, park your car, but the keys in a box while a person sits in an office. Zero interaction... not exactly Hertz and not exactly great service, would never book again in australia. They also charged a ton off additional fees on my bill causing it to double.

Extremely disappointing experience with Hertz Cairns Airport. The rental tyre failed suddenly during normal use, putting my family at serious risk. Hertz still charged me for the tyre and additional rental days caused by their negligence, which shows a complete disregard for customer safety. Despite raising this matter directly with Hertz and providing evidence, the charges remain disputed. 28OCT22: Updated review from 1 star to 4 stars primarily due to efforts of manager that sorted the problem. Of note, I believe the Hertz Survey works best for a Response because the numerous other channels I attempted to contact Hertz never amounted to a Representative getting back to me. ———————————————————————— Original Review: This location had “No before & after walkthrough” so you can be held liable with any damages you see when you initially rent car (I was charged $1100 AUD).
