Wish I could give negative stars on this one. Historically, I have had exemplary service from Hertz. This is beyond frustrating. We travel. We carry travel insurance. They cover rental car issues. We got a flat tire driving from Christchurch to Queenstown. Hit one small pot hole and while the front tire handled it well, the back tire blew out. Not only that, it ruptured the rim. Have used Hertz many times, including here in Queenstown. Team are always super friendly, but Hertz in general tend to let themselves down by missing the finer details. They didn’t have our class of car available (with only lesser classes on site) and the total charges tend to be off by a small amount, but it’s always unexplainable as to why. Both these issues were resolved in the end at my request (to their credit), but it took me working on them to get that result.

Fully disappointed. This should not deserve a single star. For better safety, we added all insurance including roadside assistance and additional driver charges and all. But the roadside assistance number did not work and was not reachable at all when our vehicle was broke down. Had to contact the customer service number from Google and hold the line for ages for different delays and finally ended up with visiting the branch physically (by an Uber with another cost) while all the others had to wait in the broken vehicle with... read more

The Good: The staff at both the airport counter and in the car parking lot were very helpful. The Not So Great: - I had originally ordered a "Toyota Prado or similar" under their Class M category, but I was given a Pajero Sport (worth $60k) instead of the expected Prado (worth $80k). We received so much help from Charmaine, and I would like to sincerely thank and praise her. We had just arrived in New Zealand from Australia last Friday night for our first trip here.
