Getting my application approved was fine. After that, it was terrible. You have the worst communication model. You need to have a point person assigned to every loan and EXTENSIONS for every person. It was so frustrating only being able to talk to the "loan processor", who then had to email the closing team about any questions or concerns I had. We closed 3 days late because of the incompetence of the mysterious closing team. Confusing and terrible.
An excellent service, very clear and promptly.
There were some issues with multiple staff being involved in my refi. Lauren was excellent and helped smooth out any miscommunications or confusing messages. Without Lauren, we would not have been able to close on time!

I've never done this process before so it is daunting. I think in the beginning Penny Mac staff assumed I knew more than I did.

The initial person Ramon Jeffries was clear and excellent. His communication was superior. Once landing with Marques there was no communication items were incomplete and there was NO RETURN communication. I will never do this this way again. In the future I will go with a broker. This was an excruciating experience.
This experience started off very good. But somewhere, things changed. There was a lack of communication and the follow-up was no longer there. So to answer your question, more communication and follow up would have made this process so much better.
Closing took too long. They did not explain to me in the beginning that getting the 2.75% rate would cost me money for that rate. Basically buying that rate.
