**This review is long past due. It originally written at the end of summer (September 2020) but for some reason didn’t publish online like it should have so I’m rewriting it .***
We are the proud owners of Watson. He was at the time a three and half year-old Yellow Lab that could have doubled for Marley from the movie/book “Marley and Me”. He was a sweet, lovable, big doofus and got away with practically everything. From running around the house like a mad man to “owning” us. Hence the search began for a trainer.
After searching online and looking at reviews for dog trainers that went beyond the normal, we found Russell's K9 Academy. I called and set up an appointment for Albert to come and take a look at Watson. Originally, we had talked about doing in-home training. After meeting and talking with Albert we decided that “Doggie Boot Camp” may be a better option. We were going to do a 6-week training session.
So off Watson went to school. We were asked to say away for the first couple of weeks to give Watson a chance to acclimate to his new surroundings and everything. Normally we would go see him on Sundays. Albert asked us to wait an extra week because Watson was having some anxiety about being away from home. Albert did an excellent job of getting him to settle in.
As the weeks progressed Watson turned from being the Watson the Wildman into a well-behaved dog. He would go to his “place” when told. He would come when called, not jump up and best of all listen to us. Albert gave us an extra 2-3 weeks (at no cost) because of Watson’s anxiety issues. Watson is now much more of a part of the family. Before he would run around and drive us crazy. Now he can come in the house and go to his “place”. He listens to commands and is a pleasure to have around.
This is the best money that we have spent. If you are going to have a dog for pet and especially if it’s a big dog, having one that is well trained is important. Albert is in it for more than the money. He has a way with dogs and is truly knowledgeable. He explained some things to us about why Watson was acting the way he was. Basically he “owned” us. He thought that he was the one in charge. Albert not only worked with Watson but also worked with us so that we have a good relationship with our dog. I would highly recommend him.
Thank you guys for the wonderful review, I miss my boy Watson and I love him very much and I would love to see him and you guys hopefully soon and may you'll have a very blessed New Year. Thank you.
