I have been on many "crash" diets before - and as I get older they become less effective and I plateau and put the weight back on more quickly. My metabolism was destroyed - and as I approached 60 I was the heaviest I had ever been, my metabolism the lowest, and any meaningful weight loss seemed out of the realm of possibility. I was now on blood pressure meds and had severe snoring problems and apnea. I was pretty depressed!
Enter SOTA. It was my last ditch effort. I wish I had done this a long time ago. Unlike other "diets" I had been on...I was not cranky, irritible and startving the entire time. In fact - I NEVER felt any hunger pangs or cravings. I could go out to eat and not only have SOTA compatable food, my table mates could order sweets and desserts and I felt no urge to have any! When I went back for my first weigh in - I asked them - "what have you done to me?!" :) Part of the secret is that there is plenty of sweetness in my SOTA foods, and I can have unsweet tea (sweetened with stevia) and Zevia soda...so I filled that void that was a problem on other programs.
I have completed 11 weeks and have lost 50 pounds. I'm going for 10 more. I've dropped my metabolic age from 63 to 44 - and body fat % from 29 to 20. Most importantly - this has been a lifestyle change that I can stay with. The question you have to ask yourself on any program is "can I live this way forever?". For me - with the SOTA program - I don't crave anything, and get satisfied with my food intake during the day - so the answer is YES! I could do this the rest of my life.
This is where they will really shine. In the on going weight maintenance. I will have the tools, knowledge and support to get back to my end of plan weight when I stray a bit due to splurging on a weekend or party - whatever. In the past, that would have been the catalyst for more over eating and sugar cravings and undoing any godd that I had done. Having completed 16 weeks by the time I'm done - I understand how this won't be an issue. The SOTA staff can explain this in better detail.
I was skeptical before I started. My wife even more so. "Why don't you just do Keto?". I had - and after 2 weeks I couldn't get any more off. She believes now - as we just came back from the store with some new clothes.
SOTA has changed my life. I hate to say anything is "easy"....but this was not hard. I travel quite a bit for my job via plane - and being gone from home overnight or for several nights did not complicate things. I was able to bring everything I needed and also knew how to eat on the economy while on the road.
I give them 6 stars. A few friends have seen the new me and have started their own SOTA journey too. It was the reviews that got me in the door for a consult. You should at least go and see what it's about - why it's different. For me - it has been a lifesaver!
