My HDX is dead. Long live my Z4 Tablet!
My Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 broke after a hard fall. Unfortunately, there is no HDX in the Fire lineup anymore, and I was not about to settle for a much lower resolution and slower processor (the HD models). I went for performance, and I could not be happier. Comparing the Z4 tablet with the HDX 8.9 past screen resolution.size and processor speed is unfair, since the price difference is substantial. Still, this device matches the screen features, provides stereo sound, has a much faster processor and supports MIMO (faster downloads than some other tablets). On top of that it adds neat features: SD car slot, SIM slot (for LTE, working perfectly with my T-Mobile SIM Card), Bluetooth, and the latest Android.
Sound is one of those areas where it definitely shines, because unlike the Fire HDX the speakers point forward, projecting the sound directly at you. As for headphones, the Z4 contains noise-cancellation algorithms that work with Sony's in-ear earphones - sold separately. I have yet to try this feature, but it sounds promising.
