Our Thomson Safari was the trip of a lifetime. Everything was incredible from start to finish. If I have one piece of advice, it’s DO IT NOW! They made sure that all our preparations and schedules were in order so that once we arrived we were all taken care of. While on the trip our guide Robert (a local Tanzanian) was a wealth of knowledge for not just wildlife and birds, but also the people, the history, and the area. We went in August during the Great Migration so we spent extra time in the Land Rover and really got to know Robert well. We have traveled all over the world and he is the best guide we have ever had.
Our trip consisted of traveling all through the Serengeti and then venturing to the Ngorongoro crater, and ending in Ruaha.
One of the major selling points of Thomson Safaris for us was that they owned all their own camps and equipment along with having their own guides and people. Other companies we looked at didn't have the benefit and we really felt comfortable knowing that the quality of service was going to be high since they were involved all the way through. The camps, the food, the service, were all top notch.
I would highly recommend Thomson Safaris for the person who is looking for the highest level of quality and service, in the most authentic way. Experiencing the wildlife on an African safari is a bucket list experience and you want to be surrounded by the best environment possible. You can tell this company cares about their people. They are deeply invested in the people of Tanzania and are a part of many wonderful projects that support the local economy, as well as projects that support conservation, which was also very important to us in choosing a company. I even still use my luggage tag and a few times in the past year I've been stopped in the airport by a fellow traveler which has been really neat to talk about our trip.
