The trip was a real adventure with surprises every day. Our guides, Chama and Maspana, were a wonderful duo. I cannot imagine the trip without them. They were different and complementary and it was great to switch back-and-forth every day. We had a great time with both of them. While we were very tired by the end of the trip, we went back and decided that there was nothing that we would do to shorten it. We learned so much about Tanzania, its people and cultures, the animals, the ecology, etc. We were especially lucky to see several groups of lions and elephants up close and of course the migration crossing the Mara River. We also saw lions stalk a warthog. For me the migration, seeing cheetahs for the first time and the experience of the Ngorogoro Crater and Oldupai Gorge were the highlights.
BTW, it turned out that there were only two couples and two single women on our trip, all strangers to each other. We were very fortunate that we all got along very well and that there were only three of us in each Land Rover. It was also wonderful being smothered with attention when we were the only six guests at camp. We were also able to get to know the people at each camp.
