Legendary Kennels !Outstanding Hospitality!
Because the 2017 Iditarod restart was to commence from Fairbanks we had to revise our itinerary & fly back up from Anchorage.Fortunately we were escorted by our prior Tourer Director which led to the invite to Trail Breaker Kennels .What we experienced on the day was totally unexpected.Firstly we were met on arrival by David Monson ,the man responsible for the beginning of the business. The welcome we were given was unbelievable ,honest, genuine friendly greeting with an invite to make ourselves comfortable at his residence & partake of the catered luncheon provided. The food was better than any five star restaurant ! We were really made feel at home. We joined David on the river bank of the Chetna where he had prepared a bonfire for the freezing conditions of the day , this was to keep warm patrons that were there to watch the Iditarod sled teams pass by on their first leg to Nome .We got to know some of the sled dogs that were in their kennels in between the mushing teams going pass.Others choose to take advantage of the sled dog rides around Daves property, the line up was constant, we declined as we had already spent three days mushing. We had an entertaining day with many laughs especially about bringing a Dingo sled team over from Australia. It was an honour & a privilege to be guests of David Monson at Trail Breaker Kennels. Totally worth a visit.Five Star!!!!!!!!!
