Some years ago the flooring industry, in the Greater Los Angeles area, had a problem. The mom and pop shops everyone grew up with, staffed with home-town dedicated professionals, were being replaced with large warehouse chain stores staffed with people who, when you could find them, would sell you anything...but could not tell you why carpet was soft and tile was hard. Prices were good, but service was another story. People needed good prices and good service.
