surprisingly nippy for its engine size, a breeze to drive and very easy to park. leg room in back is fine (more than you would think) seats four 4 adults in comfort. Simple but stylish and practical instument and control layout. Love the mid dash speedo arrangement. Has more roomy feel than the competition including the Mazda 2. Very reliable done fifty thousand kilometres without a single even minor problem. Body well insulated from road noise rides like a larger vehicle. Trim quality and finish is of a very high standard. ... read more

Brilliant little car made by worlds most reliable manufacturer. Under 7/100 fuel economy for a car that comfortably holds 4 adults with a boot bigger than a commodore... Turning circle is great, more spacious than it looks, big boot, center dash is great once used to it, flat floor, HEAPS of storage compartments Bottom end power (but its only a 1.5 so...).

Bought new in 2006 $19900. Driven over 115k and this car has been very very forgiving. Log book service every 15-20k (instead of the recommended 10k) but used fully synthetic oil. Very stable even with second hand tyres and excess speeds in the wet. Don't know how they managed to achieve this amazing stability in such a narrow car. Fuel on the better side but air-con makes a big difference (~30% more fuel with aircon on) I am a rather aggressive driver and have pushed on occasion the car to 165km/h and it performed very well... read more

I had a hard time choosing a new car after my first ever car died. I looked at a lot of different makes and models and finally settled on the Toyota Yaris. I have been consistenly surprised by how much room is in the back when I put the seats down - it really is like a mini station wagon. It's fuel efficient too! Economic and reliable

It is a nice car to drive and gets good mileage, the seats are comfortable and it has plenty of leg room, the sir Con' works very well. An update on this car --from the 1/2/11 and what I said about not being able to turn down the control panel lights of a night (speedo etc) I have since found that you ARE able to do this by pressing the Odometer button till the lines come up and do it that way. Still not happy that it doesn't have a rear wiper and washer nor does it have cruise control and that the Cig' light for use with GP... read more

I bought my Toyota Yaris 1.3L YRS hatchback in 2007 and it has been running perfectly as my everyday car ever since. The small turning circle of the Yaris makes it easy to maneuver in tight spaces. The back seats fold down flat so you create a large floor space at the back of the car, which is great when you need to fit in lots of things. The 1.3L engine performs well and is fine for normal suburban driving but is lacking in power and struggles a bit going up steep hills. The digital speedometer is clear and easy to see and ... read more

It's a useful little car for those who only need to get from point A to B. Very aesthetically pleasing but I've noticed it does give out a bit when you're driving up big hills. Small, efficient, great fuel/cost ratio, lots of cupholders (I know that doesn't seem like a big deal but the amount of times I've spilt coffee on myself before!) great speakers. They've also used the space really well by putting in lots of compartments. Can get cramped in the back for people with longer legs, not too good for long distance drives (la... read more

I had the chance to drive the Yaris when I was in Indonesia. Being in such a crowded city (Jakarta, pop 14mil), the car is easy to move around. Small economical, its fuel bill didn't cut into a holiday budget at all. The interior wasn't too bad, but its a love or hate affair. 1.5L engine great around town, stuggles a bit with the countryside. Going up hill when the car is full is a bit of a drag, but thats to be expected as its a little car. Overall a nice little car, doesn't tick all the boxes but thats always hard. -Small ... read more

Highly recommended. We did the Nullarbor and half the East coast with ease. Packed everything in the back and, even though we were pretty stacked up with gear, it cruised along with heaps to spare. Will be changing over next year and still can't see anything that approaches it for value and quality so at this stage will be getting another one. Simply can't understand some of the other reviewers comments about the seat and door fabrics, dark colour dash (which is actually dark grey, not black), demisting issues. None of this ... read more
