While I ultimately wasn't able to place my loved one at Aegis, I still felt it was important to recognize Sabrina Johnson, Marketing Director and Sales Counselor, and Jasmyne Seibert, the facility administrator. Both Sabrina and Jasmyne jumped through hoops to get the ball rolling and did everything they could to help us through the process. My 100 year old mother entered Aegis Living of Napa a year ago when we moved her up to Napa to be closer to more family. Her two room suite was spacious and had a lovely view of the inner garden, courtyard. There were many activities going on throughout each day and staff members would often come up to her room to encourage her to join in. A friend of mine suffering from Alzheimer's resided here. They tended to his particular needs, and made sure he was safe. They tried to make his life as neighborly as possible. The manager at the time was a very friendly, helpful man whom I don't think is there anymore. The initial review does bring up legitimate concerns about housekeepers&dietary aides doing work outside their sphere of training. My husband has Alzheimer's Disease and has been in memory care at Aegis of Napa for 3.5 years. The quality of care that he receives has been stellar. He is lovingly cared for. There are many years of longevity in the staff, a good sign for any business. The activities that are provided are stimulating and fun and varied. I'm not really sure how to write a coherent review of Aegis to properly explain the excellent care that my In-laws received in the past year as residents, so I am just going to try & explain the timeline of the last month. My mother was at Aegis for 7 years and received excellent care. I visited regularly, at least 2-3 times a week, often more for all of the 7 years. My mom started on the independent side, then moved to memory care. I have no clue what the other reviewer is talking about, it is a lie and should be removed from yelp. Most of the staff did not change in the 7 years my mother was there. We knew several other local families who had family members at Aegis, and we were all happy with the care there. We were looking for a place to move our mother after she had become too frail to live on her own. A family friend told us not to bother looking anywhere else but Aegis of Napa. My mother being who she is insisted on looking at different options. Aegis was the last place we visited and although she did not want to move from her home of 50 years, the warm and friendly atmosphere did it all. She finally agreed and moved in a month later. Staff is pulled off the street with no experience whatsoever. One person walks in to apply for housekeeping and is convinced to do caregiving. These people are barely trained and thrown into caring for elderly. These people do not know how to lift, feed, and properly care for these residents. From the outside looking in its beautiful and professional. Until you actually go in and talk to staff. Some are seriously incompetent, Not everyone but 90% of them. The food is horrible.
