Thank you Aegis for giving me back my sanity. When you have to move your 98 year old parent because her senior facility is closing, it is going to be stressful. I went through a horrible experience trying to get Mom into a facility close to where I live - after 30 days virtually nothing had been done about her transfer except they cashed my deposit. My mother has been a Aegis SF for over a year. Her dementia is now quite severe, and she recently had to move to their memory care unit. While a locked ward is never where you want your parent to end up, I couldn't be more pleased with the attention my mom is receiving. She has vascular dementia and not Alzheimer's, so while it is is extremely hard to watch her decline, her physical symptoms are not particularly worrisome, so perhaps she requires less attention than someone who is a fall risk or is so agitated that they are ... read more

My mom is at Aegis of South SF. It is one of the hardest decisions a person has to make when their parent needs extra care 24/7. Aegis of SSF is a happy place, the staff are all very professional, welcoming (to pets, kids, family - in addition to the residents), warm, and they genuinely care. My brother and I did copious amounts of research before we decided on a place for my mom. We toured tons of facilities. I can recommend Aegis without reservations.

PROS: Loved one is safe. No signs of physical abuse. Well nourished with balanced diet. On staff nurse is tops, she always responds to our concerns. CONS: Understaffed. At orientation we were told they do A,B & C, in reality they only do A. Would I recommend? Yes. The PROS are the important ones to us and they do have that covered.

Administration needs to be more responsive to Residents, especially when they ask for a meeting.

For Administrative Staff to be more responsive and to not remove items from residents room without their knowledge nor permission. To not withhold residents mail and packages, and to not open mail and packages without permission. This is actually a felony!

After my 86 father, who has severe dementia, suffered a stroke, we had to place him nursing home that could take care of both his needs as a dementia patient and a now a patient recovering from a stroke. After having been quarantined for a month due to norovirus, the sales manager was desperately looking for new residents. They offered all sorts of "move-in specials" and purported to accept hospice and represented themselves as being able to accommodate patients needing intense (i.e., 24/7) care. Was not happy with our experience at Aegis, the memory care unit needs a new manager, the current one is not aware of her patients needs. Sometimes our mom missed meals just because of the fact that they didn't go get her from her room. Not enough workers to the ratio of patients, I knew of another resident that fell several times under the care of the staff. I would not recommend this spot.
