I feel like it is my duty to warn potential propane customers of what I perceive to be deceitful business practices and price gouging by AmeriGas. I am a renter, and was looking to refill the propane tank at my house before my lease ended. My management company told me they have some kind of a relationship with AmeriGas, and so I set up an account and called them to have my tank filled. Horrible customer service, we completely ran out of propane while our generator was running during a power outage at our business. I tried to call the local number and instead the call forwarded to a call center out of the country. I asked multiple times to speak to someone that is in our area as they were asking questions I couldn't answer about the propane tanks. He could not place the order without my knowing the size. We're on auto refill & although we watch our gage,we were surprised when our tank was filled. Their service has greatly improved since last year. Their drivers are professional, conscientious & friendly.
This company is now a monopoly on areas that cannot afford their sky high prices and additional services, but are force due to a lack of other resources. Watch out for there sales reps who will have you sign agreements that don’t show the hidden prices. The fill drivers however are really nice.
If I could give negative stars I would. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! This is not the first time this has happened to us. We have a 120gal tank. 80% is full= 96 gallons. I ordered 27 gallons, approximately 20%, to help get us through the coldest month. We were at 20% the day before delivery. The day of delivery, I got home from work and checked the tank… we were at 30%. There is no way a fill of 27gallons should have only bumped the gauge by 10% if 24 gallons is 20% of a full 96 gallons.
