Anyone who is looking for a psychiatrist in the NH seacoast area I highly recommend Dr. Kaplan. We have been taking our child to Boston Children’s for years and felt that we were on a holding pattern. We decided to look for someone closer to home and came across SCMH and Dr. Kaplan. He listened carefully offered us a few ideas. With just a little tweaking of medicine our son has been able to control his out bursts and went from 6/7 times a week to maybe 1 time since changing his meds.
Really took the time to let us know what was going on--would recommend!
He definitely knows his stuff! I've brought my child to several psychiatrist and Dr. Kaplan finally diagnosed him correctly!
Don't know what other rater is talking about. Dr. Kaplan helped my daughter out tremendously. Super compassionate and knowledgeable!
The other commenter is spot on as Dr. Kaplan treats people with any symptoms beyond mild anxiety like animals. When I saw him a few years ago I opened up about the voices and intrusive thoughts I was experiencing which were occasionally commanding me to do violent things, as they were understandably making me quite upset. If I could give less than 1 star, I would. I had a bad psychiatric episode, as I have SPMI. After a single telephone message requesting refills, Dr. Kaplan deemed me "too verbally aggressive" to be seen at his practice. He may be good if you have depression or anxiety, but if you suffer from severe mental illnesses such as bipolar or schizoaffective disorders, PLEASE seek out someone more understanding. I would never recommend this doctor to anyone. He sees my step-son & we are not happy at all about the care he receives there. Unreliable,arrogant & untrustworthy.
