I rented from APP for a year. I was looking for a first floor rental but all I could find at the time was a second floor so I took a chance and rented it. I read tons of negative reviews before moving in a few months ago, but I looked past all of it because I love the apartment I'm renting. So far I've had a wonderful experience with my landlord. However, office staff and inspectors care very little about tenants' safety and the safety of their properties. Inspector came to my home, left lights on and left my front door unlocked (for hours on end). Katie and Christina went above and beyond to help my wife and I find the perfect rental. We wanted mountain views in a nice home w/ rent that we could afford. Not an easy thing to find in Asheville. Not only did they find it for us quickly, we also had a signed lease in a matter of 48 hours. Everything was automated and done online which definitely made us feel safe during this Covid mess. I rented from them for six years. Upon moving out and cleaning the property better than it had been at move-in, they still managed to find a way to keep 1/3 of my deposit. They are not transparent in their lease requirements or enforcement. I ended up fixing countless issues myself because of their slow and incompetent maintenance "department." Asheville Phoenix Properties (APP) has been our property manager for almost 10 years. We have a house in Asheville (Chestnut Hills). We had to leave. We have been renting the house out in the meantime. APP has been super responsive to all of our needs and has also taken care of our tenants.
