Worst bank ever DO NOT USE THIS PLACE. They have zero resepect for there long time customers. All I needed was to cash a payroll check from a new place of employment and all I got was a bunch of nonsense saying they have to hold the check. The check is from a bank here in Austin says payroll right on it. I am just one woman trying to pay my rent and Austin Telco could care less. This trash Credit Union allowed someone to open a fake account in my name and cash my Tax Refund Check and now they won’t take my calls. Don’t give these people your money.

I have been a loyal customer of Austin Telco for a staggering 16 years, but my recent experiences have left me thoroughly disappointed and frustrated. The decline in customer service has been nothing short of disheartening, prompting me to share my concerns and consider taking my business elsewhere. I like this credit union. I've been using them for nearly 2 decades, finance all my cars there. This is a pretty good credit union with great loan rates. I've typically found the staff to be friendly although a little inexperienced at times (they expanded quickly, lots of new hires). Phone support is something you'll need to be ready for some serious time spent on hold though. The downside is their ability to handle customers that travel outside the Austin area. Lousy customer service, not a lot of features I'd expect (like credit line hooked to your overdraft protection), even during business hours the phone is frequently turned off, and the customer service reps that I've dealt with so far have never been eager to help. They ranged from cool tolerance to downright irritation at being bothered. If it weren't for the penalty you pay if you close your account within 3 months of opening, I'd already be gone, but I've definitely been shopping for a new bank as soon as I hit that mark. ... read more
