You can't spend your own money because their security measures are absolutely ridiculous. There are arbitrary and very low purchase and location limits on the card, so, for example, you can't purchase tires or airline tickets without calling Austin Telco on the phone, waiting through the phone tree, going through crazy security measures and waiting while the customer "service" rep gets permission from a manager to lift the restrictions so you can spend your own money. There's no option to remove the limits as a general rule,... read more

Thank you for your feedback. We apologize for any trouble that you encountered and for the friction with your card transaction. We have updated a number of our systems to improve fraud controls and card payment management. Additionally, we have added card control convenience within our digital banking to enable members the ability to adjust spending limits. Our teams are continuously working with VISA to enhance payment protections while reducing negative impact to authentic authorized payments. We would welcome the oppor... read more

I wouldn't recommend this for place. The loan officer was rumored and didn't let me finish my inquiry before she cut off to take a not professional tone with me and I had to gently let her know I didn't appreciate her energy and I wasn't called about what she wanted to tell me about. She was checked out, she said twice in the conversation that she was getting ready to go to Cuba tomorrow. I once my loan officer refinance with a different credit union I'll never return here. The first rep was helpful however, before this expe... read more

So I'm typing this review because I'm so upset at Austin Telco Federal Credit Union that can't even process recurring electronic payments. When my payment to chase was not sent by their "ipay" system, I called in. The woman who answered the phone, said "oh, I can't see the data, its a third party system, I need to contact bookkeeping. (Huh??? Seriously???) After putting me on hold for god only knows how long, she said, that I don't have any recurring payments set up...even though I previously set that feature up!!! At th... read more

Business response:

I have been a member of this bank for years, I requested a small personal loan and was denied. Now I could see if my credit was poor or I didn't have a good job, needless to say I will be moving my banking needs to a bank that will help it's customers when they need it.

Business response:

We are sorry that your previous experience was not a positive one. We understand that denials are not the favored decision and are always willing to talk through them with our members. Thank you for giving us the chance and for your feedback.

We have been members for years. As of late, the digital banking does not work worth a damned. It crashes or locks up. We were able to log in with their assistance, but now can't. This is how it works, each person has to have a separate login and password. One person will be a primary holder of the account. If you are not listed, you have to have a PoA (power of attorney). So much for having joint! Even when we tell them, we don't want two separate logins that is the way they are going. I do all the banking and this ... read more

Wish I could give this FCU 0 stars. After years of being a patient and tolerant customer I am finally at my wits end. AusTelco updated their online system and never once sent an email to me that bill pay would be unavailable. I call when I was unable to access bill pay on my phone/mobile login after new system was released and was told they had since an email about bill payer being down, i searched for an email but had NEVER recieved any notice. Today more than a week later I can not access bill payer and when selecting ... read more

Customer service is practically non-existent. Employees are not properly trained to answer your questions and resolve your issues. I have been a good customer for 8+ years and I'm at the point where I am ready to take my business elsewhere. Very disappointed. They obviously hire the bottom of the barrel of candidates to keep a seat warm and give doofus responses to try to satisfy the customer

Business response:

We never want to hear that we didn't meet your needs or that you had a bad experience. Thank you for your concern and for your membership.

Need a Bank That never has a working ATM! This is the bank for you!!!!! Want to plan a night out but end up you have to go to 2 different banks just to get YOUR money out of an ATM!?!?! Do not understand how this bank is still in business, this is not just something that just started happening. NO this has been going on for YEARS!!!! So many times, my night was cancelled because of their useless ATM's!

Business response:

We apologize for any challenges with our ATMs. We have made changes over the years in coordination with our vendor to improve ATM availability and reduce service maintenance windows. Our tap to pay VISA cards also provide convenience payment options when out on the town. Thank you for your feedback and for your membership.
