We went for brunch and were overall satisfied with the breakfast plates, i.e. eggs, bacon, toast, etc. Really hard to go wrong with the basics. It was a bit crowded with most of the seating for four and we needed six. The ding is for the almond bear claw; not buttery, soft, or flaky at all and was actually kind of tough and hard on the underside. Old? Maybe, but don't waste your nine bucks on it...grab an almond croissant elsewhere.
DO I REALLY NEED TO SAY SOMETHING!? The photo says it all the food was so fresh and delicious!! The service was quick they sat us down and helped us out very fast ! The place was packed because it was Sunday other than that 10/10 I recommend this place to a lot of people the portions are always huge !!
Food was good as usual, and I like the ambience very country. What made this is so great was Kathryn. I have had multiple here, she was hands down the best. The difference is clear as most of them treat their job but Kathryn sees it as a career. That change in mindset is what lights that passion to serve. The rest is just something you are borne with I know who to ask for when I come back.
We tried a different location for lunch and thought we would try for dinner. Definitely didn't disappoint. We had just finished a baseball game and got in a bit later about 30 minutes before closing. Thankfully they still served us and it wasn't too bad. Would recommend this place, it has become one of our favorite locations when visiting Houston.
Andrea was our server this morning. She was fabulous. She was courteous, friendly, and attentive. Enjoyable experience.
WOOHOO- WHERE IS EVERYONE? We had heard about Black Bear Diner & had an opportunity to check it out for a late (4:30ish) lunch. A++ OFF THE CHAIN!! I met a friendly waitstaff guy, Nairobi, who I asked what he recommended- he suggested "Bob's Big Bear Burger... I had it (Deluxe, of course). I wanted it RARE... Now, I am a Food Guy and have been around to multiple places here in H-Town...some decent & some less than decent... Alberto cooked my Burger PERFECTLY- it was FANTASTIC- all the ingredients from the fried onions... read more
This place is what you would expect in any diner and the food is good. Everyone in my party stated that their order was good...but, they didn't have what I wanted! So I settled for an omelette which I would have preferred in an IHOP or Broken Eggs location. My experience was okay. The food showed up late, 1 plate had soggy fires and the silverware took an additional 10min to receive after the food been served! There weren't many customers to provoke this but it happened. I probably won't come back.
Very awesome place. Food was outstanding and the service was top notch. Nice calm environment and don't have to yell to be heard at my table. Very comforting atmosphere. Would definitely be coming back.
Ebony was an amazing server with great customer service! She suggested a new hot honey sauce that she created for our shrimp and grits and our chicken and waffles! Everything was so good we ate it all! The over all ambiance of the diner was just like an old school diner in the mountains in Tennessee!
