Husband and I was running errands and decided to get breakfast at black bear diner in Cypress. Not my first time at the restaurant but first time at the Cypress location. Was happy that we had no wait time was able to be seated immediately but I'm sure it was because it was a week day and not the weekend. The food was amazing as always I love the fresh squeezed orange juice and the food was top notch. I just like to say I was hungry and wanted a good breakfast and this was it! The service was great, they were very helpful on suggestions on what to add to the meal. The ambiance was perfect, nice music playing, and comfortable places to sit. Try it for yourself!
The portions here are huge for low cost! I had the chicken fried steak omelette and it was really good! The chicken fried steak inside was crispy and full of flavor. It comes with gravy on top, I wish I asked for extra gravy being that I'm a sauce person but I added some hot sauce instead and it was perfect. The grits was okay, I added a lot of butter to make the grits creamy since it came out a bit clumpy. My friend had eggs and biscuits. We have been to this location a few times and it is my sisters favorite breakfast spot in the area. This day it was not busy until we sat down which was really nice. Our waiter was very attentive and just all around great at his job. He found a pen for my niece to use to color since they were out of crayons. The food is truly just ok but very large portions at reasonable prices.
The biscuits are huge and tasty. The dining selections are your typical options and have plenty to choose from. It's a family friendly breakfast spot that won't break the bank.
For a meal the day after Thanksgiving this place was awesome. I had the Tritip dip sandwich which was great. I highly recommend it.
I would just love to say that my amazing waitress Ebony told me about this item on their secret menu, it's the hot honey chicken and waffles and first I would love to say that this is one my favorite items on the menu. I'm so glad Ebony informed me about this but to me hot honey and the crispy chicken went so well with the sweet cream waffle! It's a very unique flavor but it's really really good. Ordered two eggs over easy, hashbrowns, bisquit and small portion (breakfast portion) chicken friend steak and gravy. It was all good except the chicken fried steak tasted "pre-fab" Got called sweetie and honey by the waitress and cashier in true diner fashion. This is denny's with a bear flair
