In 1995 founders Bruce Dean and Bob & Laurie Manley opened the first Black Bear Diner in Mt. Shasta, CA. Their mission was simple: create a fun and friendly atmosphere where the local community could enjoy huge portions of home-style cooking at a reasonable price. Today, we continue their mission at every Black Bear Diner across the country, as we passionately provide guests an outstanding experience. Black Bear - excellent breakfasts, especially the sweet cream pancakes. Great lunches, the burgers are the BOMB. Comfort food dinners - who does not like meatloaf & mashed potatoes? The staff is helpful, cheery, and usually efficient. They need more space, and more tapestries hanging on the walls in the dining room to deaden the noise of noisy diners. Overall, a great place to eat in Redding and everywhere else they have a store.

Candace was our waitress & she was super friendly & helpful! She explained how busy it was&we totally understood since we were making our way south from viewing the eclipse. She made sure we were well taken care of &checked up with us often. The food was well worth the wait! Shasta scrambled was delicious & the biscuits were Amazing! Wish there was a Black Bear Diner in San Diego!

Being from the East Coast, Black Bear Diner has always been on my mind as a place to stop while visiting the West. First saw their billboards and it only took that first visit to get hooked and become familiar with their great service, food and ambience. Will visit Black Bear Diner on my next or any visit out West where they are located.
