I ordered the NY steak with eggs and a side of fresh fruit, and everything was spot on. The steak was cooked exactly as requested--juicy and flavorful--and the scrambled eggs were light and perfectly done. The fresh fruit was a refreshing and healthy addition that balanced the meal nicely. Bread was extra portion. I will remove to tell them one slice is enough in order to prevent waste. We got the chicken fried steak dinner, and it is a lot of food. We ordered the fries, mashed potatoes, and soup. The portions were large. Honestly, had I known the portions were that big, I would have only ordered one for my wife and I to share. My wife loved everything. I was not a fan of the mashed potatoes. They had good flavor, but I do not like them lumpy with skins. They make mashed potatoes the right way, but because of my texture issues, I prefer instant potatoes. The country gravy is very good. This is the best Black Bear Diner location there is. They have kept most of the old wait staff from Iron Skillet but with the Black Bear Diner decor and, of course, the taste and value you've come to expect from any Black Bear Diner. Make no mistake, this is peak Truck Stop Diner. Always a good mix of friendly and busy here. Good portions that hit the spot whether or you're headed into or out of San Antonio. Who doesn't love Black Bear Diner?!!? This is not an ideal restaurant as it sits alongside a gas station and convenience store. And the service is lacking a little - especially in the seating area. However, the food is always good. You can't go wrong with breakfast for dinner. Great every time!

Food was Amazing service was a little slow at start not complaining ambiance was great could hold a conversation and hear I do recommend coming to try with family friends or your date the food was on point I'm definitely coming back with the wifey.

The service was definitely above 5 stars, the food was great! The ambiance is also top notch!
