When me and my mom want breakfast out, we go to Black Bear. It's just the best. They have the best scrambled eggs compared to any other breakfast place we have gone go. The atmosphere is cozy and relaxed, the service is consistently fairly prompt, the service staff is polite, and the FOOD. Consistency is definitely the name of the game at this location at breakfast. Friendly and polite hostess, and server (Mia) who was also very efficient and attentive. Very good food. Reasonable prices (for Scottsdale) except for the $4 coffee. Really? WHB 5 stars but for the coffee price.

Today Black Bear Diner hosted our party of 60 which included 2 soccer teams and their parents. One table did get forgotten, and got their order quite late, but it was only a concern because time was getting close for them to have warm ups and play their game. Other than that, the staff was good and the food was great. Considering the restaurant ended up having a party of 40 in the morning and another soccer team party of 30 at the same time they hosted us, I think they did absolutely wonderful.

Tried the $27 Thanksgiving meal, which was pretty average for the price. The worst items were the string beans and the pumpkin pie. The turkey, stuffing and potatoes were fine and the salad was - well a salad - with a nice biscuit tossed in. Not the greatest, but not the worst either. Mid.

My husband and I I are visiting from out of town and we stopped in to try Black Bear for lunch and we really enjoyed it! -Menu has some great items. I had the bacon cheeseburger and my husband had the turkey club. Both were delicious. I forgot to take photos. My husband said his club was one of the best he's ever had. I've been to two locations so far, a Los Angeles property and most recently, a Scottsdale one. Both times I had their breakfast and was impressed by the serving size, quality of food and service. They have a varied menu with all the traditional breakfast fare you'd expect from a diner, but also some unexpected items like eggs Benedict or chicken fried steak. We really enjoy diners. We got the club, burger and a piece of chocolate cake to go. Food came quick and was reliable, although the sandwich was a bit dry. The dessert was just okay though, was hoping for a bit more moist/decadent cake.
I've not been to a Black Bear Diner of years. It is better than I remember. No question, the service is great. My experience is they make you feel welcome from the time you walk in the door. The decor is quaint and homey. The menu is extensive. They have breakfast options all day. Those options looked tempting.
