In 1995 founders Bruce Dean and Bob & Laurie Manley opened the first Black Bear Diner in Mt. Shasta, CA. Basic diner experience, nothing super notable, we came on a Saturday around noon and were seated quickly. I got the order of 1 biscuit and gravy with a side of bacon. It was tasty! And a nice light biscuit that didn't make the meal seem to heavy.

The staff were incredibly friendly and really quick to help out our family. We felt so well taken care of! Please give them a shot if you are in the area.

I haven't been here as much since I was a kid but I'm glad this diner is still around. Definitely a great spot to bring kids or the family. The workers are friendly and the service is decent. Theres not that many restaurants nowadays that has the same classic California theming like Black Bear Diner. I surprisedly enjoyed the prime rib. The boiled vegetables weren't seasoned but I was fine with that. The mashed potatoes were decent. I enjoyed their corn bread and their soup of the day as well.
