Wow -- I just discovered this place while getting a brake job done across the street, and I'm so glad I did. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted immediately and shown to a super comfortable cabin-style booth. The whole restaurant feels like you stepped into a cozy mountain lodge in Big Bear -- except it's right here in LA. I can't say enough good things. This is dinner food done right, with great service. The coffee is always fresh, and they have fresh squeezed orange juice. The pancakes are fluffy and delicious. My go to is the chicken fried steak, and my husband always gets the hobo homlet. Try their hot sauces if you want a little kick with your food.

Please please please bring the tuna melt back! I haven't been in since they took the tuna melt off the menu. I came in at least 2 times a week and always brought my husband or friends. I have been loyal since the day you all opened. Black Bear was known for their tuna melts and then it vanished! So sad as I have never found one or have been able to make one as delicious. Now THIS is a diner! The food, fantastic. The ambience, true to the bone and the service was friendly! I ordered The Grizz, their biggest breakfast on the menu so I could try most everything. The pancakes, divine! The bacon was thick and crispy, I love it and I'm not a fan of bacon. Even the sausages were really good. The poached egg were cooked just right for me. This is a very "okay" restaurant. Once upon a time it would have been known as a coffee shop. Now I believe the chosen name is a family restaurant. Decent enough but usual food for those who like it that way. Very basic. You can sit by yourself and read, or sit with a friend or friends for hours, and no one will bother you. There will always be a server around to refill your coffee cup/iced tea glass.
