Black Bear Diner Vacaville

About this business

In 1995 founders Bruce Dean and Bob & Laurie Manley opened the first Black Bear Diner in Mt. Shasta, CA. Their mission was simple: create a fun and friendly atmosphere where the local community could enjoy huge portions of home-style cooking at a reasonable price. Today, we continue their mission at every Black Bear Diner across the country, as we passionately provide guests an outstanding experience. We went there for teddy bear Tuesday. We ordered 2 adult entree’s and two kids meals. Food was ok, service was ok. My server Joshua upset me when he told me my kids had to have teddy bears to get their meals for free. Never had I ever been denied for teddy bear Tuesday if my kids didn’t actually carry a bear with them. I’ve been in Suisun & Vacaville numerous times before. I won’t be back for teddy bear Tuesday just for the simple principle of the matter.

The service is always excellent. And sometimes the food is excellent. I just can't figure out why the food is sometimes a real bomb.

We enjoy Black Bear Diner, but normally visit the one in Suisun City. Unfortunately, the one in Vacaville did not meet the standards to which we've become accustomed. Service was slow (admittedly, it was Memorial Day and the customer volume may have been higher), we never had our waters refilled, and we were surprised to learn the store did not offer a military discount (extra surprising since it was Memorial Day). We later discovered the latter only occurred at the Vacaville location - again, surprising given the large n... read more

Business response:

Hi Lance - Thank you for contacting us. We are sorry that the service at the Vacaville Diner was not comparable to what you usually receive in Suisun City. We appreciate your feedback on that and will definitely share this with our team in Vacaville! As for the military discounts... with 70% of our locations being independently owned and operated, you will find differences in discounts and offers. We are sorry for the disappointed this may have caused and certainly hope to see you in a Black Bear Diner near you again! ... read more
