In 1995 founders Bruce Dean and Bob & Laurie Manley opened the first Black Bear Diner in Mt. Shasta, CA. One of the best breakfasts I've ever eaten. I had the bacon benedict - totally delicious. We were there on preview day, and everything was running very smoothly. Great service, great food, HUGE portions. (Plan to take half home.) When you consider how much food you get, the little bit higher menu prices are reasonable. We'll definitely return. I recommend signing up for the loyalty club so you get some freebies and notice of specials. Coffee was also really good.

I’m glad we finally have a Black Bear here in Ventura! A drive to Medford, OR or a flight to Anchorage, AK, is a bit far. The atmosphere is rustic, the service is exceptional, the management is friendly, and the food is delicious! The portions may be a bit large for this “old man”, but you can always take some home to enjoy later.
