In 1995 founders Bruce Dean and Bob & Laurie Manley opened the first Black Bear Diner in Mt. Shasta, CA. Their mission was simple: create a fun and friendly atmosphere where the local community could enjoy huge portions of home-style cooking at a reasonable price. Good, hearty food and solid service. We stop here every 3 weeks when our company has a delivery for our Willows customer. Lately it has been very busy or not at all. Even though there have been 25 patrons and 1 cook & 1 waitress at that time, we were greeted, had good, hot food served. Yes, things were a bit slower than normal given the ratio of customers to staff, but consistent quality, friendliness, were abundant.

Awesome greeter at the front door, so sweet and genuine. Our waitress was helpful and very nice, the pot roast was delicious!

Great team serving my hubz and kids tonight. Despite a full house, being understaffed and a few setbacks in the kitchen, the attitude and disposition of the employees was great. Hard nights deserve a great reward. Thanks Team Redding Black Bear Diner Staff! #tipthebill

Black bear is a great place to go out for breakfast lunch and dinner with close friends and family!! The staff are very kind and reliable. The seating is cute and there are alot of seats for a busy night full of people!
