Do not send your child here. The trauma I've seen kids left with after coming out is worse than a lot other places. I was there for a couple months and it is a common approach for them to not tell you it's a long term stay until you get there for your first day. I wrote a review 4 years ago but now that i’m an adult I have a better perspective on this place.. i’m actually still going to therapy for the things that happened at boys town. Don’t send your kid here because all it’s going to teach them is how to bottle up their emotions. they say you can express yourself here but you can’t, you’ll get negatives on your point card. I’ve had my reviews deleted from here before. Weird. I spent 15 months total in this facility as a child. I went there to heal/learn skills that could help me & help me connect w/ my family. I left with more trauma that im still healing in my adult life. I was misdiagnosed w/ mental health conditions i dont have. Those labels still impact the current care i receive from medical doctors to this day. I can’t honestly leave a review I’m frightened for my son to be placed here all the bad stories of kids being hurt here is worth the state of Nebraska looking in to. He was sentenced here in Omaha for up to 6 months because of marijauna usage while on probation. His PO is not someone I would ever wish my enemy to have on there side she is not helpful at all and recommended him be placed here. I am currently looking for a lawyer to help us get him placed somewhere else more for treatment of substance use then behavior.
I wouldn't even send your kid there. I was abused, knocked unconscious, traumatized, and to this day, hate small spaces. They called me vicious and unpredictable while I was locked in a concrete seclusion room nearly 5 years ago. My grandma dropped me off, and they lied about me staying for only one night. That's when I began to cry, and my grandma wouldn't believe me over their lies.
