When discharged from CHOMP, I needed placement in a skilled nursing facility before going home and discussed with discharge the facilities with immediate openings that met my medical and rehab needs. I am so happy I decided on Canterbury Woods. Their nursing personnel are their greatest asset. The staff at Canterbury Woods go out of their way to provide compassionate care that helps residents and patients maintain their dignity and personal values. My darling Grandmama lived at Canterbury Woods for 20 years. What an incredible experience it was! I would not have chosen a better place for her to live out her life. The gardens and walking paths throughout the community are well maintained and beautiful. She was so excited when they got the coy pond as we would go and sit out there to watch the fish and the hummingbirds zooming through. My Mother lived at Canterbury Wood s for 20 years and passed away just 3weeks ago. I can not say enough about the love and care she received from everyone there. From the administrator, Elvyra, to the house cleaner. They gave her dignity, love, care, respect and safety. Throughout the pandemic we were unable to see her however all I had to do was call the staff and I got immediate updates. I want to give 5 stars to Jody O'Connell, Director of Sales and Marketing. I received a mailing for my Mom. It was upsetting because she passed away almost 8 years ago. I sent a complaint to the email address on the card and received a very kind apology along with an explanation of how the error occurred. Jody actually spent some time researching the problem. This is really outstanding service. If this retirement community is run anything like how Jody does business, this has to be a great place.

I joined the Canterbury Woods community 6 years ago when I was "much too young". It has been a great choice for me. The community of residents supported by terrific caring staff is a welcoming home. Had I stayed in my home out in the wild I would already be increasingly isolated. Instead I have built a modest network of friends and enjoy planning hikes, trips to San Francisco, carpooling to concerts and other local events. I also love living in Pacific Grove. I had a job interview with "Robert" the dining room manager. Wow...all I can say is he was very rude . He seemed a little "hyper " as well. If I asked a question he would come back with a snide remark. At the end of the conversation, he paused for affect, then took glee in telling me "I wasn't a candidate for the job". Just goes to show you how power mongers operate.
