Recently my mother required a higher level of care and was admitted to The Delmar Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing. As a registered nurse myself I was impressed by the quality care she received. The staff, from aides, to nurses, to dietary and housekeeping, all these folks were kind and professional. My husband Will had to be in Delmar rehab for six weeks following hospitalization after an auto accident. It’s a wonderful place, with comfort, actually comparable to that of a good hotel, as I saw when I visited him nearly every day. We still miss the place! He got physical therapy and occupational therapy five times a week, in the on-site with amazing equipment and caring staff he was treated with love and respect at all times: he dealt with him as a person, not as a case number. The facility is clean, but very bare bones. The rooms are bare and cold. The adjoining bathrooms create a problem when a resident is incontinent. The staff is pleasant, but not necessarily competent. We had occasions of improper medication being dispensed. Finally, the rehab facility was adequate. If a patient has no insurance, and Medicaid is the only option, then the Delmar Center is a fair choice. for the love of anything that you hold dear to your heart, Do not send your family to this horrible place. It was dirty, it smelled like Marijuana and urine. The bathrooms were disgusting. They had no showers and the nursing call button did not function in my brothers room. Be aware that they will try to call Adult protection Services,if you try to discharge a patient. If there was a negative rating I would give one out. My grandmother has been in this facility for just under a week. During this time, my family and I have observed deeply concerning issues regarding her care: She has been left in soiled clothing after using the bathroom, with no assistance provided for hours despite ringing for help. She has not received the correct medication at the prescribed times, and there have been instances of incorrect dosages being administered.
