After my total hip replacement I was taken to encompass rehab. It's an amazing facility for rehab. There food is amazing. PT staff is kind gentle, and always positive. Everyone come in to check in on you, You can see that the staff enjoys working there, and love helping to heal others. Nurse Brandi (my night nurse) made my stay here even better. My mom was just at Encompass for two and a half weeks following 8 weeks in the hospital with the flu and respiratory issues. My dad was not happy with the level of care she was receiving and asked for referral elsewhere. They refused, saying she was good to go home and discharged her. 24 hours later, she was, and remains, intubated in the ICU. We have since heard from other families that had had loved ones here and had horrible experiences. Do not send your loved ones here. We will be submitting a complaint to the DOH.

Personal items of patient were stolen within first 48 hours of stay. Meds were missed on day of admittance. They gave a big story about how they’d take care of transferring patient from Avera Hospital to Encompass. Patient who is on several meds missed an entire dose of meds. When I asked about, they got hostile and told me “there is nothing we can do about it”. Management is way in over their heads and are unprofessional and protect image of hospital over patient care. My mom is 84 years old and had reverse shoulder replacement and her experience at Encompass wasn't great. She ended up with food poisoning (the food was always cold) there and didn't get much PT while she was there due to being sick from that. The food supervisor tried playing it off as it wasn't food poisoning but I told him funny that the DR said it was. Plus the place wasn't very organized/trained cuz PT and OT asked ME what were supposed to do with her. Isn't that their job to know what to do? So I went to the nurses ... read more

please if you have loved ones here with more than rehab needs! Literally medical needs do not leave them unattended! do not trust their medical abilities! be prepared for excuses and real medical concerns to be pushed aside! I literally had to intervene and tell them what they would be taking my loved one to the hospital! I can bet on my life they would have died over night in their care! again do not I repeat do not let your loved ones alone with them to care for them if they have any medical conditions! they will kill them... read more
