Very happy with my recent move to Extra Space Storage! I was previously at a Public Storage down the street, and after the security gate being broken (and wide open) for some time, I decided to make the move here to Extra Space. This storage facility is so much better in many way! It's extremely clean and well maintained, there is great lighting (no need to go fishing around with a flashlight!), and they always have some tunes playing which is just a nice touch. So far so good! I am in the process of preparing for a move, which means doing a lot of clutter control to do. Part of that is renting a storage space for some of that stuff. I toured a unit a couple weeks ago with Paul and I appreciated the time to get to take a look. They seem to have various promotions going at any time so when I finally signed up this weekend, I will get a month free (except for some one-time fees) and there's also a lower rate on the unit for a few months (hopefully). A second lock was added to my unit even though payments are up to date (as confirmed by their online system and my bank) they are completely unreachable via phone or email. They will overcharge for a unit that is literally hazardous to gain access to (a unit that requires a step ladder carefully balanced on a ramp) and increase rent multiple times after hooking you with an introductory rate.

The place is nice and clean, but they pulled a real scummy move. I signed up in November for a rate of $179 per month. I just received a notice by mail that starting in February they are increasing the rate by $60 per month. I would understand that there will be increases from time to time, but a 33% price hike is insane. They know that they it is a high effort exercise to move all of the items out of the unit, so they have you over a barrel. I wouldn't recommend to anyone based on these business practices.
