In my building we were without a washer and dryer (maintained by contractor CSC) from 16 January until 3 Feb. The "community manager" said she had no way of reaching the company directly. I gained access to an adjoining building, but its dryer was broken too. I gained access to a third building, and its washer was also malfunctioning -- had no spin cycle. Plus the laundry-room sinks were both plugged. Conditions at this complex, and Hillcrest is supposed to be the best in the McKinley group, have deteriorated markedly in the... read more

I remember relying so much on Google Reviews when I first chose to move here two years ago, and there wasn't one negative one on here then. Well, the neighborhood has changed a lot, and I've since edited this review that was pretty positive before. I had a pretty good move-in experience. The people across the hall from me lived here for eight years before buying a house, and a couple other neighbors I know have been here for years too, so that always seems encouraging. Everyone I have worked with in the office has been mos... read more

While Park Place next door has nicer communal areas (green space, a pool, etc.) Hillcrest has nicer units. Utilities costs are low, I never felt like I was getting nickel-and-dimed. Response time on maintenance requests was always quick. All that gets you two stars. Doors to apartments are thin so if you have noisy neighbors you *will* hear them. It's a non-smoking complex but my building always *reeked* of weed. Location is an issue, the area is noisy and depressing, there's trash of all kinds everywhere, and a giant over... read more

Dont do it, dont do it, dont do it. I wouldnt give one star if that was an option. The Gaslighting started the VERY DAY i was to move in, when the Manager tried to bump my move in day by claiming I was mistaken, rather than acknowledge they were behind schedule. Glad I document everything & stood my ground. There are overt efforts of retaliation if you ever contradict the manager or stand up to her. She is the most infuriating bully, who relies on her "high up" connections to get away with outrageous behavior. I dont think s... read more

Avoid living with McKinley at all costs if you can. They'll charge you for rent that you do not actually owe them and they make it incredibly difficult to get your security deposit/rent refund back from them. The customer service offered by the office and the maintenance team are abysmal. Don't live here unless you're fine with being robbed blind.
