I wanted to support a local, family-owned business, so I chose Hocon for my propane needs and the installation of a new heater. Unfortunately, the experience was exceptionally frustrating due to significant, avoidable delays. We were having a problem with our gas log set igniting. It was a difficult to diagnose issue but the service manager and technicians were great about figuring out what was wrong and fixing the issue in a very timely manner!
My negotiations with Hocon to take over the lease of the tanks providing popane to my home kitchen oven and emergency generator (from the prior owner) reached an impasse when I informed them that I was unwilling to accept the proposed contract term that exposed me to unlimited fees/penalties for not reaching minimum yearly use thresholds (I was willing to accept penalties, just not UNLIMITED penalties). Terrible, greedy pricing. We got a propane delivery in December at $3.93/g (which is already very high), and then another today at $4.28/g. I called a different supplier, who I previously used when renting a house, and locked in $2.65/g for a year. We only use gas for heating in the winter, but Hocon is predatory with their pricing. If you think you're getting a good deal, do yourself a favor and quote your price with 2-3 local companies. You might be shocked, I sure was. They have the worst service. It took them three weeks for them to even talk to me to sign me up. Three weeks and that’s because I kept calling. They apologized so many times then they told me that they were gonna make me a priority and get my propane tanks to my destination And they failed at it. Eight days later I have no propane but yet they got my money. I called them because I ran out of propane and they told me they can deliver it the next day. Horrible and horrible service. .
