Perfect for automated systems It's inside fit 2 1/2" and the outside diameter is the same as the outside diameter of a 3" schedule 40 pressure pvc pipe. So a piece of 2 1/2" pipe will fit inside or a 3" coupling or any other slip fitting will fit on the outside. Therefore it is a true 2 1/2" and / or 3" valve.
It is well made and the source had inventory. This valve is very similar to the other mainstream valve product manufacturers there is not a lot of difference between the leading brands. It is more about being able to source these vs any review of the products. This valve installed and worked as expected and was overall of good quality workmanship.
It is what it is - a 2.5" valve - NOT a 3" valve! This is a really nice valve, it's just not the 3" full port valve that I need for my pond. I find it misleading to call this a 2-1/2 to 3" valve just because you can use a coupling to connect 3" to it. Really??? I measured the inside stop (for the 2-1/2" pipe) with calipers and it's almost exactly 2.5" on all 3 ports. That's only 69% of the cross section area of a 3" pipe. Nice quality I am using this to divert grey water from the shower out to my landscaping. I chose this size because UPC code says you cannot reduce the size of a drain pipe. The 2" diverter reduces the size of flow. This 3" diverter allows for continuous 2" water flow. Added in a couple of 3 to 2" reducers on all ends.

The valve was perfect in what it was designed to do The valve was perfect in what it was designed to do. Unfortunately I ordered the wrong size and ended up sending this back. I ordered the correct size and the valve has been working perfectly ever since.
