We went there for Valentine’s Day and got seated in the back patio. The heat lamps were very hot for the day but not unbearable. We ordered some soups and an appetizer. Thank god we did because the sushi didn’t come out for another 40 minutes. The very nice waiter checked on us a couple of times to let us know the kitchen had delays. Why would they have delays on such a busy day, especially since all the tables were booked for weeks in advance and walk ins were minimal? Japango is an elegant Japanese restaurant on Pearl Street serving up the best sushi I have ever had. The ambiance is lovely, they have a tank of jellyfish in the middle of the restaurant which is so unique. Our favorite starters were the beef tataki and the hamachi jalapeño. hands down best service i've ever had in a restaurant !! I love sitting at the sushi bar while solo traveling and was excited to see how genuinely the sushi chefs wanted to share recommendations/make small talk with guests. special shoutouts to Victor, Gio, Cody, and Jorge who were all so friendly and made some incredible rolls & nigiri. Victor at Japango in Boulder is absolutely fantastic. He was incredibly interactive, welcoming, and genuinely kind, which made the entire experience even better. You can tell he truly cares about both his craft and the guests he serves. The sushi was beautifully prepared, fresh, and delicious, and Victor’s energy made it fun and memorable. If you’re dining at Japango, definitely sit with Victor—you won’t be disappointed.

The atmosphere is great — the fish is TERRIBLE. In case you are scouting as a non-local, Hapa is the best quality fish in town with wayyyyy better prices. Hapa was closed for lunch today so we asked them for their “next best” which was easily 7 steps down — it was hardly even enjoyable. Quinton took my order over the phone and was rude and bothered from start to finish.
