Emily Cook did a wonderful job, I felt like she actually sympathized with me and understood my needs. With her help I improved significantly in the last year. However she in no longer at this location and I was switching to Sheila Johnson. I was very disappointed in her, I felt like she wasn't listening to me, or if she was, simply wasn't taking me seriously. The next few months are going to be very difficult for me. I had brought my autistic daughter in at the schools suggestion because she is nonverbal after being abused at school by a student and they basically were trying to find out why she is not talking or participating in class. I’m ok with her not speaking because I read body language. I brought her in to meet with Sheila Gwin Johnson. I made an initial therapy appt for a month and a half out due to no immediate availability with the therapist I was interested in because of EMDR. Totally understand being busy and I was willing to wait. The therapist (Tahirah) canceled my appt I’d been waiting for without any notification then rescheduled me in appt time slot that doesn’t work for my schedule (again, without any notification or communication through phone, email or the portal). Cedric made it easy to talk to. I was nervous as a guy to have a therapist. He made it feel comfortable. No judgement. LifeStance is a great place. Easy options for in person or virtual visits. They accept my insurance so this was a plus for me. :-)
I did not vibe with the first practitioner that I saw at this office and I left feeling extremely defeated. When I was text about my feedback, I gave an honest review of my appointment to the office. The office manager called me and listened to me and offered to put me with a different practitioner. I’m so glad I went back. I have never met a mental health professional that has made me feel seen and heard like Sheila Johnson.
