Stopped by Magnolia Grille for the 1st time around 4 pm. VERY few patrons in restaurant at this time. NICE salad bar. I ordered the chicken carbonara and my husband ordered the shrimp and grits. Upon receiving our dinners... my Chicken Carbonara had no flavor at all. Tasted like buttered spaghetti. The chicken was so dry ... hard to chew it up. My husband's shrimp and grits were good. I hope we got it right she was our waitress today we were over there oh gosh a little around 1:15 1:20 we got there stay there till little after 3:00 poor girl was ran to death by us. Excellent service very knowledgeable of the menu. Answered all our questions with professionalism. It was not an impressive first visit. We arrived right around 5pm to what appeared to be an almost empty restaurant , & since we were in a Hurry, we thought this would be a good thing, but it wasn't. There were 3 of us and only 1 person ordered something that actually had to be cooked. It took 45 minutes to get our food & then at best, it was mediocre. This was our first time at Magnolia Grille as we do live an hour outside of the Columbia area but we’ll be back! This trip coincided with a gospel music event held in the area featuring Gold City quartet. We ordered fried green tomatoes as an appetizer and they were delicious (I prefer them fried cubed rather than sliced but that is uncommon.) When we go it's for thier Sunday buffet and the food is always wonderful, the best salad bar in Columbia. I always get thier brisket, and have a very large dessert selection, the staff has always been great and helpful even though we come on the busiest day of the week. We have visited on other days and the food has been exceptional my favorite is the blackened red fish
