I recommend Dr. Almouie's as he and his staff are very helpful and knowledgeable. Not only do my kids go here, but I did as a child as well. The thing I love the most is that they keep the well and sick separate!

We left Childrens clinic for 3 reasons: Too hard to get in touch with. Ridiculously long wait times after check-in. Rude check-in staff at our local location. We switched to almouie (2+ years ago now) because they answered the phone, got us in in a reasonable timeframe, and were kind. We were very happy at almouie. They're still kind, but everything else has gone downhill. They never ever answer the phone. I've waited for over 30 minutes while it rang and rang. I understand the additional wait time because of Covid-19, but when the waiting rooms are empty and it's an hour till 5, I would think they wanna get their patients in and out quickly. I wouldn't be so upset if this DIDN'T happen all the time, even before COVID-19. Also, I'm fed up with them ALWAYS scheduling with NP and billing for MD, not to mention the NPs that speak to me and my children like we're on welfare/Medicaid. We've had private insurance for 10+ years, and have been with Almouie for 7 of these years.

What good does having a PPO do if you still get bills like this? $41, $45, $250!!!!! We paid our copays. They didn't do anything major at these visits. No blood work, no exrays, nothing but a throat swab or 2. We pay a thousand dollars a month for crap insurance and still get billed every time we go to the doctor. This is stupid. It's a crime. i never could get anyone to call me back or make referrals in a timely manner. had to travel to the Portland location for our locations negligence and they didn't even document ... read more

Went here to have my son evaluated for a football injury. Was told to keep him off football for at least two weeks. Did x-rays as they suggested and was called with x-ray results and was told they were completely normal. Never once was told he needed to return for a follow up visit. Once I called to pick up release, they state we need to see him. If x-rays were normal and my child stayed off football for two weeks, why is the visit necessary? I wouldn't even give them one star. First I got put on hold for 20 mins then I called back and got put on hold for 15mins then she picked up but because I had to put her on hold for half a min she hung up on me then I called right back and got put on hold for 10mins and still have talked to somebody.

6 visits at over $100 per visit and never a doctor. Always a nurse practitioner even with a pneumonia diagnosis. Had to travel to calallen from south side to see doctor. Doctor not available in 2 weeks of visits. Some nurse practitioners are better than others, but my son was initially misdiagnosed (they missed the strep throat) and then missed the pneumonia (only diagnosed after x rays). Where is the option for zero stars?

Terrible wait times, even when not busy due to staff chatting with each other. Not efficient--even if you have the first appointment at 8AM, they won't see you until 8:30AM. Almouie Pediatrics is a chain of doctors offices in South Texas, and are staffed with nurse practitioners (not doctors). So it is kind of like an urgent care, but without the urgent part. In Portland this works fine for them because of a lack of competition. Hopefully as Portland grows our pediatrician alternatives will grow as well.
