Following a GI bleed, and an ambulance ride to MercyOne downtown, my wife’s primary care doctor referred her to MercyOne GI Clinic for follow up. After two weeks, we did not hear from them so, as instructed, we tried to contact MercyOne GI Clinic. Apparently, their phones were “malfunctioning” to the point we couldn’t leave message. Had a procedure today with Dr. Gorrepati. Every aspect of the procedure was flawless. I had multiple questions beforehand and emailed with Karen (scheduler) a number of times. She took the time to get back to me each time with a full answer, taking time to show care and concern. When I arrived, Carol at the front desk was personable and made the process seamless and quick. Biggest joke ever!!!! They were incredibly rude and incompetent. They didn't give us all the supplies for the sample, gave us little to no direction for the tests not marking anything and then throwing a fit because I asked questions and they had to do their job. It takes a lot for me to review a place but this is insane! I told them I have autism and was discriminated against. I waited one hour on the phone to be answered, and finally, when someone answered, she couldn't give me a straight answer. I was asking specifically how the doctor codes for the procedure, as my husband was charged 4,000+ for a colonoscopy we believed was covered by insurance. She just repeated, 'That's a billing question.' She wasn't accommodating to talk to and didn't help in any way at all. Awful. I have sat in the clinic for over an hour. The offices managers excuse was because it was during lunch. So if I’m inconveniencing your lunch why was I scheduled during that time and made to sit in your lobby with my child that long? They call and van leave no messages, I’ve spent over an hour and a half on the phone waiting for someone to pick up. Terrible patient care and there’s always an excuse.
