Dubious I use these cartridges, based on the strong recommendation of my spa's previous owner. At first it was brilliant. I only needed a dusting of chlorine every couple weeks to keep my water crystal clear. However, after replacing the cartridge I'm not getting the same results. Yes, I did activate it with a chlorine shock just as the instructions indicate. But now I need much more chlorine, and more often, to keep my water clear. I add a little chlorine after every use but other than that the water is awesome. Had problems with my jacuzzi, until I installed one of these. Everything is perfectly balanced.
